Saturday, August 2 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm Heights Baptist hosted a community event to help raise support for the LifeWise Academy, a non-profit organization that provides Bible-based character education to public school children. With private funding and parental permission, the students are released from regular classes to attend religious instruction off-campus. The organization aims to improve student behavior and mental health as well as academic achievement.
Women of Grace were also on hand to provide backpacks stocked with school supplies free of charge to local families. Church members, community organizations and local businesses purchased tables to make available their wares for sale and/or raise public awareness for their causes. Among these organizations were Scouting USA (formerly Boy Scouts of America), Regeneration Station, Lisa’s Plants, Running Wild, and East Pensacola Heights Cat Club (which raises money to spay and vaccinate stray cats in the neighborhood).

Food trucks provided a variety of tasty eats throughout the day, starting with breakfast sandwiches by Breakfast Bros, then lunching on hot dogs from Kips Dogs or Thai food from Zap Sap by Carol, and topping it all off with a creamy treat by Frozen Ropes Yogurt.
The kiddies enjoyed the water slide and bouncy house provided by Billy’s Coastal Party Rentals, with our own Daniel Landrum showing them how it’s done, while Doug and Lydia Moesta entertained the rest of us with their wonderful music.

A fun time was had by all, despite the FL summer heat and we raised about $700 for LifeWise. A successful day, all around!
